DEL MAR COASTAL HOME REMODEL INSPIRATION: BEFORE AND AFTER
Have you ever looked at before and after photos of a home remodel and thought to yourself, “there is no way this is the same home”? Well, you’re not alone, it is a common thought that an outdated home cannot be brought up to modern-day standards, or if it can, it won’t be the home you have always dreamed of. But it certainly can, especially when you have the right team behind you. A remodel is your chance to design the home you’ve always dreamed of and change the space to fit your needs. You’ll want to hire a designer as space planning can get tricky. A good designer will be able to help you space plan and help transform your house into the home you never thought possible.
Think about your needs and what your home is missing. The easiest way to start thinking about a remodel project is to make a list of what you would like to change or add to your home. Go through and determine the most important items on that list. If you are ready to go forward with the home design remodel, it is time to set up an appointment with an interior designer to talk through your vision. At this point, the designer should be able to help you prioritize your list while sticking within your desired budget.
DEL MAR, CALIFORNIA HOME REMODEL
Ready for some before and after photos? Let’s take a look into a remodel we did recently for a coastal home located in Del Mar, CA. For this coastal remodel we opened up the space bringing in more light creating an inviting home. A full remodel of a Mediterranean-style residence, Susan redesigned the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, office, and the bar/game room. The first step in this project was to start with the floor plan renderings and drawings. The plans included details on custom cabinetry, fireplace design, flooring, baths, and lighting design.
COMPLETE KITCHEN REMODEL
The kitchen was completely gutted and redesigned to fit the vision of the client. In order to maximize the space and add a pantry, the floor plan had to be cleverly designed. The kitchen is one of the many distinct features in the home. High ceilings, beautiful custom Habersham cabinetry, and window treatments give this kitchen its coastal indoor-outdoor feel. To lighten the originally dark and closed-off space Susan added windows on each side of the stove. With the lighter color palette and large industrial-style Ralph Lauren work lights, the kitchen is now bright and crisp. Complementing the light color palette is new wood flooring from Exquisite Surfaces that was also used throughout the house.

HOME THEATER REMODEL
Home theaters are starting to make a comeback. This home had a theater that was a bit dated and needed a little love. Susan wanted to keep it simple to assure the most comfortable and enjoyable environment when watching a movie. Comfort is at the forefront when designing a home theater. Having a simple yet elegant room that will not distract your guests and installing the perfect amount of lighting is a huge component in perfecting any luxury theater room. Keeping the theater simple allows the focus to be on the movie rather than the statement theater it once was. This home theater turned out cozy and chic just as the client imagined.

GREAT ROOM REMODEL
Susan wanted the great room to reflect the same open floor plan and indoor-outdoor living as the kitchen. Replacing the lighting, added all new flooring, and chic furniture transformed the great room into an area where the family can enjoy and create new memories. A great room should be one thing GREAT.
