The Ultimate Year-End Holiday Party Hosting & Decorating Guide

The Ultimate Holiday Party Guide

Fall is here and it is time to get ready for all the holidays ahead. We put together the ultimate year-end holiday party planning guide to make things a little less stressful. The holidays are a time of gathering with your friends and family. Whether you are hosting an intimate get-together or a grand soiree, party planning can be stressful. From Halloween to New Year’s Eve, and everything in between, the expert interior design team at Kern & Co. has got you covered with the best holiday party hosting and decorating tips around.

Halloween

Spooky season is a time of creativity and fun. A time to dress up in costume, gorge yourself on candy, beige your favorite scary movies, get creative carving pumpkins, and of course decorate your home. Go all out with the spooky décor or keep it simple by gathering a few pumpkins by your entry. If you plan on being home on Halloween night make sure to get some type of treat. Even if you think you won’t get many trick or treaters, you never know and it is better to be prepared than turn away the littles empty-handed. If you’re hosting a Halloween party get scary with your treats and drinks. Keep your theme alive by adding all things Halloween. If you are a guest don’t show up empty-handed. Bring something festive like a box of pumpkin sugar cookies or a bottle of wine. Happy Halloween!

Thanksgiving

Time to feast! Thanksgiving is a time to gather with loved ones, give thanks and eat great food. Decorating your home for Thanksgiving is not a must but some enjoy it. If decorating add rich warm colors to your home and layer it up to make it cozy. Again pumpkins can work great for decoration plus they are easy. If you are hosting a large Thanksgiving dinner make a plan on where the food stations will be, if you have enough seating, etc. The last thing you want is to be figuring out the logistics while the food is getting cold. When it comes to setting the perfect table, lay everything out the day before and get all serving dishes, utensils, etc. out and planned ahead of time. Another trick is to start making some of the dishes the night before and prepping as much as you can. This allows you to use all your time cooking your thanksgiving feast. Lastly, enjoy your Thanksgiving don’t worry about the little things. Happy Thanksgiving!

Christmas

Let the elegant Christmas decorating begin! Time to get your stockings hung, Christmas lights glowing, and Christmas cookies baking. Decorating your Christmas tree can be a fun activity to do with your family. Decorate your mantels, tabletops, entryways, etc. Let your home feels like a winter wonderland full of Christmas decorations and Christmas cheer.  Set your dining table with your fine china, crystal glassware, luxury linens, and candles. Add fresh garland and mini Christmas trees to scatter throughout. When it comes to your gifts, presentation is everything. Keep pride in your gift wrapping, make beautiful bows, tightly wrapped paper, and even match it with your home’s holiday décor. Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas!
